The meyhane is one of Turkey's oldest institutions — a gathering place for poets, musicians, merchants, and dreamers. For centuries, these convivial taverns have been the beating heart of Turkish social life, where the evening begins with cold meze and ends with song.
Meyhane Soho brings that spirit to the heart of London. Our menu is rooted in Anatolian tradition — fire-roasted, slow-braised, and always made to be shared. Our room is built for long evenings.

Heritage
The Meyhane Tradition
The word meyhane comes from the Persian mey (wine) and hane (house) literally, a house of wine. But the meyhane is far more than a drinking establishment. It is a cultural institution, a place of conversation and creativity, where the boundaries between host and guest dissolve over shared plates and raised glasses.
Traditionally, an evening at a meyhane begins with rakı Turkey's anise flavoured spirit and a spread of cold meze. The meal unfolds slowly, with hot dishes arriving as the conversation deepens. Music fills the room. Time slows down.
At Meyhane Soho, we honour that tradition. Our menu follows the rhythm of a true meyhane evening, from the first cold starter to the last glass of rakı.
